Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) is over a 100-year-old, Chicago-based nonprofit agency that provides early childhood education and camp programs to children of all religions, races, and ethnicities across Chicagoland.
We are looking for a new hire to join our team as a Lead Preschool Teacher in our Highland Park Center!

Job Responsibilities:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and executing developmentally appropriate programs for assigned classes in accordance with the philosophies of JCYS.
- Maintain a warm, caring, and respectful attitude toward all children at the center.
- Have constant supervision and active involvement with children. This includes inside classrooms, in hallways, on playgrounds, on buses, and on offsite trips.
- Send daily classroom updates to parents via email.
- Inform Director of parent messages, complaints and concerns, accidents and illnesses, and other classroom incidents.
- Maintain professional relationships with parents and other staff members.
- Understand the importance of keeping confidential information safe and take all necessary precautions to do so.
- Attends staff meetings and contributes to the knowledge of other staff members.
- Work in partnership with teachers and other staff.
- Abide by the JCYS Employee Handbook and all agency policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in early childhood education or related field preferred
- Minimum 6 college credit hours in child development
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children
- Must meet DCFS standards for experience/education
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships
- Must be able to physically interact with children, involving stooping/bending, activities on playground, and sitting on the floor
- A love of children
