Job Title: Preschool Floater

Hours: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM (Full-Time)

Reports To: Preschool Director / Lead Teachers

Position Summary:

The Preschool Floater is a vital member of our early childhood community, supporting classrooms and helping ensure a smooth, nurturing, and well-organized school day. This role reflects our commitment to Jewish values by fostering a warm, respectful environment grounded in kindness, community, and care for others. The floater works collaboratively with teachers to support children’s learning, assist with projects, and maintain clean, welcoming classroom spaces.

Key Responsibilities: Classroom Support

  • Provide flexible support across classrooms to maintain continuity of care and appropriate ratios

  • Engage with children in a warm, respectful manner that reflects values such as kindness (chesed) and respect (kavod)

  • Support daily routines, transitions, and play-based learning experiences

Project & Activity Assistance

  • Help prepare and set up materials for classroom projects and activities

  • Support children’s participation in art, sensory exploration, and holiday-related experiences

  • Assist in creating meaningful experiences connected to Jewish traditions and celebrations

Environment Setup & Care

  • Set up classrooms and shared spaces with intention and care at the start of activities

  • Support mid-day reset to maintain a calm, organized environment

  • Assist with end-of-day breakdown and preparation for the following day

Cleaning & Organization

  • Complete mid-day cleaning tasks (tables, surfaces, materials) to ensure a healthy environment

  • Carry out end-of-day cleaning, including sanitizing and organizing classrooms

  • Model and support children in caring for their environment, reflecting responsibility (achrayut)

Community & Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with staff to support a strong sense of community (kehillah)

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers and administration

  • Approach the day with flexibility, initiative, and a team-oriented mindset

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children (preferred)

  • Ability to be flexible and move between classrooms throughout the day

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Warm, patient, and collaborative approach to working with children and adults

  • Willingness to learn about and support Jewish traditions and values in the classroom

  • Ability to meet licensing requirements (as applicable)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage throughout the day

  • Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor activities
