Summary: The Shlenker School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Infant Early Childhood Teacher to join our dynamic team in January for the 2024-2025 school year. Early Childhood Teachers, play a vital role in the care, supervision, and education of our young learners aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. The infant program nurtures students beginning at 6 weeks through 15 months. Working collaboratively with a partner teacher, Early Childhood teachers plan and implement lessons that foster a nurturing Jewish learning environment. The role extends beyond the classroom, as Early Childhood teachers partner with parents to support the holistic development of children, encompassing their physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive well-being.
Responsibilities:
Provide a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for infants, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
Collaborate with a partner teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
Monitor and assess children’s development, documenting milestones and communicating progress with families.
Maintain compliance with licensing regulations and health and safety standards.
Contribute to a warm, welcoming Jewish learning environment, while ensuring inclusivity for all children.
Positive Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model, offering supportive, nurturing, warm, and responsive care tailored to individual children's needs.
Parental Engagement: Maintain positive relationships with parents and primary caregivers, fostering open communication and collaboration in the child's development.
Professionalism: Demonstrate professionalism in work habits, engage in ongoing professional development, and maintain a positive attitude when working with co-workers.
Required Skills:
Degree or certification in early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field (experience may be substituted for a degree in some cases).
Experience working with young children
Understanding and agreement with guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice.
Strong working knowledge of Minimum Standards and NAEYC Accreditation Standards and Criteria.
Passion for working with children, demonstrated through warm, nurturing, and friendly interactions.
Ability to understand and implement emergency procedures in a calm manner.
Openness to constructive feedback from supervisor(s).
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children of varying developmental capabilities.
Excellent multitasking abilities with flexibility to adapt to transitions and changes.
Mature attitude that facilitates effective communication, problem-solving, and anticipation of fellow workers' needs.
Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and function as an effective team member.
