POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for classroom oversight and implementation of approved curriculum in the Early Childhood team.
 PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be willing and excited to work with 1-2 year olds.
 - Prepares weekly lesson plans for classroom within the guidelines of the program curriculum.
 - Assists in overall administration of Early Childhood Program operations, which include, but is not limited to: oversight of gymnasium, swimming pool and center carpool program responsibilities, special events, etc.
 - Maintains continuing education requirements, as stipulated by the Department of Welfare and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).
 - Maintains calm, flexible and caring demeanor with children and parents.
 - Oversees maintenance standards for Preschool rooms and equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
 - Attends staff in-service training programs and staff meetings, as required.
 - Plans age appropriate activities for preschool age children that encourage physical, social and emotional growth.
 - Maintain a safe and healthy environment according to established standards.
 - Maintains weekly lesson plans and “what’s happening” sheets.
 - Prepares progress sheets on individual children and schedule parent/teacher conferences.
 - Interacts with parents and/or guardians on a daily basis.
 - Maintains effective working relationships with parents and staff.
 - Maintains effective working relationships with program participants.
 - Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery.
 - Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
 - Ability to manage and balance a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
While performing the above duties, this position routinely requires handling persons and/or objects and moving safely throughout the building.  This position may include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.  This position requires communicating, either verbally or in writing.  This position frequently requires moving items weighing up to 25 pounds.  This position occasionally requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to complete all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be willing and excited to work with 1-2 year olds.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct the work of Assistant Educators and Aides
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Supervision from Associate Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education including 30 Early Childhood Education Credits and at least two years experience working in a classroom setting with preschool age children.
