Part-Time Extended Day Supervisor Lead the afternoons that families count on and children love. Are you an educator, aspiring teacher, childcare professional, or someone who loves creating magical moments for our youngest learners? We're looking for a warm, organized, and energetic Extended Day Supervisor to lead our afternoon program and create a safe, nurturing environment where nursery school children can play, explore, and unwind after their school day.
This is an excellent opportunity for:
- Early childhood teachers seeking additional income
- Graduate or undergraduate early childhood education students
- Experienced childcare professionals
- Career changers exploring early childhood education
- Individuals who enjoy building relationships with young children and families
Position Overview As our Extended Day Supervisor, you'll lead a small team of extended day educators, serving as the bridge between your staff's on-the-ground observations, the nursery school classroom, and the families you serve. You'll work closely with teachers and school leadership, ensuring that every family leaves at the end of the day feeling informed, welcomed, and connected to their child's full school experience. You'll oversee the daily operation of our afternoon program, creating a structured, joyful, and developmentally appropriate environment for our nursery school children (ages 2–5), ensuring each afternoon runs smoothly from dismissal through pick-up.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- Create calm, predictable afternoon routines that help our youngest children feel safe and secure.
- Plan play-based, developmentally appropriate activities that balance creativity, movement, sensory exploration, and rest.
- Foster a team culture where extended day educators feel comfortable sharing observations about individual children — their moods, needs, triumphs, and challenges throughout the afternoon.
- Synthesize what your team notices and translate those observations into warm, meaningful conversations with families at pick-up.
- Be the consistent, trusted face that families connect with at the end of the day — someone who knows their child and can speak to their afternoon with care and specificity.
- Ensure families feel that the extended day program is a seamless, connected extension of their child's nursery school experience.
- Support staff with kindness, consistency, and professionalism.
- Prepare ahead so transitions feel gentle and organized — especially important for young children.

- Create a safe, nurturing environment tailored to the developmental needs of children ages 2–5.
- Plan age-appropriate, play-based activities including art, movement, sensory play, and outdoor exploration.
- Manage afternoon transitions including dismissal, snack, outdoor play, and pick-up.
- Cultivate a communication culture within the extended day team, encouraging educators to notice and share the small moments and nuances that matter to families.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families at pick-up, drawing on your team's observations to share meaningful, individualized updates about each child's afternoon.
- Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers and school leadership to ensure continuity between the school day and the extended day program.
- Maintain attendance and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
- Model professionalism and support a positive team culture.
