Teach and develop skills in physical education and health, guided by agreed upon school curriculum standards and students’ developmental needs
Develop student leadership, teamwork, social skills, positivity in a safe and inclusive environment
Establish and reinforce clear expectations and routines as per Responsive Classroom model
Maintain accurate and complete records as required, including the completion of report cards
Inspect equipment and field areas to ensure they are in safe and working conditions
Monitor student learning on a continual basis and intervene when necessary
The ideal candidate has:
A Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Physical Education;
Experience working with children in a physical education setting in both elementary and middle school settings;
Understanding of child/adolescent development and how social emotional factors impact learning;
Ability to build relationships with students that foster a positive environment where students feel safe;
Willingness to coach after-school sports such as soccer, basketball, or volleyball;
Collaboration and communication skills that allow them to work well on a team as a co-teacher.
