SUMMARY: Aftercare teachers provide a loving and nurturing classroom environment for preschoolaged children as they transition from their regular school day to our afternoon program. Aftercare teaching positions are available from 1:00-5:30 or 3:00-5:30pm, with flexible options. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides for a safe and secure environment for children
Implements age-appropriate games and projects
Performs and engages in all planned activities
Monitors student development and progress
Communicates with parents as needed

Working towards B.A. Degree from accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience is ideal
Demonstrated knowledge of principles and methods of curriculum
Knowledge of, education or training in and/or experience in Childcare, Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Jewish Education a plus
Demonstrated ability to articulate the school’s vision and mission
Familiarity with safety procedures and precautions
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion
The ability to work with diverse groups of people
Willingness and ability to work with DECC Director and other teachers
EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED:
Observe, monitor, and interact with preschool age children
Perform daily activities including keeping classrooms clean and tidy in appearance
Communicate with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and students’ behavioral or learning issues
Maintain and keep records of attendance and injury reports
Attend faculty meetings and school events
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom setting or on a playground
Requires moderate amount of physical effort, including lifting children and changing diapers
Requires above average level of activity
Adheres to CDC COVID guidelines
