Temple Sinai Song Leader Position Fall 2025
Inspire the next generation through music!
Are you a passionate musician that loves leading Jewish musical programs for children? If so, we invite you to join the Temple Sinai team as our song leader. As the song leader you will be responsible for leading the musical programming for our preschool, religious school and various Shabbat and holiday programming for the preschool and Sunday religious school.

This position can be done as a whole or with multiple people.

This is a part-time, nonexempt hourly position with varying hours. The hourly rate for this position $40-$60 and dependent upon experience and scope of duties. This position is for August of 2025 through the end of May 2026 with the possibility of summer camp in June and early July.

A brief description of responsibilities include:
Preschool music includes 5 song sessions a week, one with each preschool class for 20 minutes each totaling 1.75 hours per week for 40 weeks (70 hours total). Other opportunities for music during summer camp in the months of June and July may also be available.
Additional opportunities for music with our preschool families include a welcome back Havdalah in Piedmont Park, end of the year closing ceremony, Passover seder, Purim parade, and once a month all community Shabbat on Friday mornings (exact dates will be given).
Sababa Shabbat includes leading music for Tot style Shabbat service alongside clergy on Friday at 5:15 pm approximately once a month September through May.

Kesher (K-5 grade Youth education) includes 22 Sunday sessions from 9:15 -11:30 AM (exact dates will be given). Song leader responsible for: leading Tefillah for K-2 and 3-5 alongside clergy, teaching music sessions to TK, K, 1st, and 2nd grades, and conducting a music elective to 3rd through 5th grades during religious school hours.
Kesher Family Experiences include leading music for 8 events: 3 Friday night religious school style Shabbat services alongside clergy at 6:30 PM during the months of October through May (exact dates will be given) and 5 Kesher family holiday events throughout the year including Havdalah, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, Purim & Lag B'Omer.

High Holy Day Kesher Services include leading music for 2 High Holy Day Kesher daytime services, one on site at the Temple and one offsite at Emeryville Marina Park during the holidays of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (exact dates and times will be given).

Teens potential opportunity for engagement with middle school and high school teens at events and learning programs. Hours TBD, potential opportunity to extend hours on Sunday afternoons if interested.

Tot Music Class there may be an opportunity to have a Jewish-themed music class for children aged 6 months to 3 years old with their caregivers once a week in the morning. This is a developing program and TBD.
