Lead Early Childhood Educator

The Lead Early Childhood Educator works as a collaborative team member with their classroom teaching partner, teaching team, and school-wide teaching team, as well as partner with families and the leadership team to carry out a classroom vision that fulfills the needs of the individual child and the class to support students learning interests. Supervise and implement classroom curriculum in accordance with school goals, philosophy, and policies. Prepare lesson plans, classroom materials, and student observations. Plan for and implement developmentally appropriate learning to promote children’s social-emotional, physical, language arts, cognitive development, and spiritual development in the areas of art, dramatic play, environmental awareness, multi-cultural/anti-bias, math, science, motor skills / creative movement, music, health, and outdoor exploration.


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  1. PRINCIPLE DUTIES
  • Ability to collaborate with educational staff to continually deepen their thinking about teaching and learning and their ability to construct meaningful and responsive learning experiences with the children.
  • Guide the development and implementation of classroom curriculum; review and revise as needed according to classroom changes/learning interests.
  • Ensure that the Jewish educational vision of the BAS school is reflected in the daily classroom practices.
  • Ensure that differentiation among children’s learning styles and emotional needs are met.
  • Emphasize and fully support “constructivist” instruction by modeling, working in partnership with teachers and/or through ongoing coaching conversations. 
  • Provide ongoing support to children by observing and listening to children, documenting projects, and helping them conduct their own learning research.
  • Create supportive and inspiring learning environments based on the children’s’ interests/needs.
  • Ensure that documentation of curriculum occurs in the classroom and upholds the standards and philosophy of a constructivist approach.
  • Work with Director and Leadership team to maintain best practices and school goals within the classroom and school program. 
  • Handle and address parent concerns and questions promptly and appropriately.
  • Create and maintain classroom learning documentation.
  • Represent the school in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain current certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR of infants and children and have training in the administration of medication.   
  • All lead teachers must also obtain training in leadership development, adult supervision, mentoring and adult learning.   
  • Maintain strict supervision of children and an accurate count of the group at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

 
  1. Minimum 1-5 years Classroom Experience
  2. BA degree and/or MA in Early Childhood Education, Education, and/or a related field required. Jewish education experience is a plus!
  3. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  4. Excels at communicating to parents and is able to interact professionally.
  5. Deadline/Task orientated sense of urgency.
  6. High energy takes responsibility.
  7. Team oriented.
  8. Willingness to be flexible.
