Early Childhood Educator
Early Childhood Teacher
Alef-Bet Child Care | Cambridge, MA
Full-Time | 12-Month Position | $52,000–$60,000 Annual Salary
About Us
Alef-Bet Child Care is a warm, play-based Jewish early childhood community in the heart of Cambridge serving children ages 15 months through 5 years.
We are intentionally small: children are known not only by the teachers in their own classroom, but by the adults throughout our school. Our teachers spend their time where it matters most: on the floor, playing, observing, talking, experimenting, comforting, and learning alongside children.
Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time Licensed Early Childhood Teacher with strong classroom skills and an equally strong ability to work as part of a teaching team. We want educators who can use what they know: adapting when children need something different, communicating thoughtfully with families and colleagues, contributing ideas, and working collaboratively rather than operating as separate teachers in the same room.
Our goal is a classroom where teachers trust one another enough to step in, adjust plans, share responsibility, and support one another when someone's toolbox is running low.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with co-teachers to develop cohesive, developmentally appropriate classroom plans and experiences.
- Build responsive relationships with toddlers and preschoolers.
- Observe children's interests, behavior, and developmental needs and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Support children through big emotions, conflict, transitions, and challenging moments using developmentally appropriate approaches.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with parents while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and boundaries.
- Share responsibility for classroom preparation, organization, documentation, routines, and transitions.
- Contribute your own strengths and ideas while remaining open to learning from colleagues.
- Follow Massachusetts EEC requirements and Alef-Bet's health, safety, confidentiality, and professional policies.
Required:
- Massachusetts EEC license
- Early childhood classroom experience
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a teaching team
- Strong professional judgment and communication skills
- Comfort working in a Jewish educational environment. Jewish knowledge or prior Jewish educational experience is not required.
- $52,000–$60,000 salary, based on experience, qualifications, and schedule
- Health insurance
- Dental insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Reduced childcare tuition for employees’ children
- Salaried position with predictable compensation
- Paid school closures for Jewish and federal holidays
- Winter break
- Extended Passover break
- One-week August closure
